We Bought a Farm

After years of looking for a property to host weddings we had only dreamed about, we finally found everything we could have hoped for! Growing up in the area, both T and I had driven by this property our entire lives. When family friends told us there was a 'For Sale' sign out front, we jumped at the opportunity to schedule a viewing appointment to walk the property.

On a Monday morning, in January, we pulled into the driveway. The white fence and old stone wall welcomed us as the farmhouse and barns came clearly into view. It was a charming scene to say the least.

As we entered the farmhouse, I was intrigued. And overwhelmed. While the property was well-maintained for a home of it's age, I started to wonder if this property we had fawned over would work for what we had imagined. Of course the wide-planked, original pine flooring and extensive molding stole my heart, but I knew the house required a lot of work to bring back some of its long forgotten charm.

My head was reeling trying to determine if renovating the farmhouse was worth the time and effort. But then we stepped outside to explore the property. Oh my! I was blown away as we walked the property. Each barn we entered was better than the last. On our way to the pond, we passed more stone walls (I'm a sucker for stone walls!). As the pond came into view, it couldn't have been more perfect. It was covered in a smokey ice and looked like a Zamboni had freshly cleared the surface. You could see a hole where previous owners had gone ice fishing, and I instantly imagined warmer weather and reading out on a row boat in the summer sun.

Walking back towards the farmhouse, I was sold. This property was too beautiful to pass by. It deserved to be restored and shared with others. So, we bought Cunningham Farm, and now the adventure of "Life on the Farm" begins...
